Sapele
Sapele, coming from the Latin Entandrophragma cylindricum, is found in Western Africa. The sapwood is pale yellow, the heart is pinkish when freshly cut, darkening to a typical mahogany colour of reddish- brown.
Sapele carries resistance to indentation, having bending strength and stiffness. Sapele works well with hand and machine tools.
Sapele has many uses, including exterior and interior joinery, furniture, coffins and flooring.
