Okan
Okan Cylicodiscus gabunensis is a species common to the African rain forests from Sierra Leone to Gabon.
The heartwood is dark brown in colour with a greenish tinge, sapwood defined by its pinkish colour. The grain interlocked and texture coarse. Okan can check and distort if dried too quickly.
Although a hard and heavy timber, Okan machines up well giving a satisfying finish.
Common uses for Okan are stables, marine construction, decking and heavy structural use.
