Beech
European Beech carries the Latin name Fagus sylvatica. The colour varies from pink to white/cream after steaming. Like Ash, Beech dries quickly.
Beech has been called the ‘mother of the forest’ as without it in mixed broad-leaved forests, other hardwood timber trees have greater difficulties of survival.
Common uses for European Beech are flooring and interior joinery (furniture).
