Bangkirai

Bangkirai is product of a single species of Shorea. This originates from a group of heavy hardwoods growing throughout Malaysia and Indonesia.

There is little distinction in colour between heartwood and sapwood which is a pale golden-brown. The texture is medium to fine and the grain is interlocked.

Bangkirai can prove difficult to be worked but has the ability to be worked well to obtain a smooth and defined profile.

Popular uses for Bangkirai are marine decking / walkways, heavy construction, bridge components and lock gates.
