Ramin Dowels & Mouldings
A.B.Lewis Ltd are one of the few companies in the UK specialising in and stocking Ramin. From dimension stock to dowels, we have been dealing direct with mills in Malaysia & Indonesia and importing Ramin for oer 30 years. Due to recent restrictions it has become less prevalent but we can still source some FSC Ramin which we import whenever available.
Prime & Frame Grade Birch
A.B.Lewis Ltd have been importing Birch for years in both RusticGrades for the frame trade and Prime Grade for joinery and mouldings.
Birch has taken over from Keruing & Beech as the timber of choice for the furniture frame making trade where they use it to manufacture the frames for sofas and suites. A.B.Lewis import Canadian Birch, Swedish Birch, Finnish Birch and more recently Baltic Birch. Each species having its own unique characteristics and benefits. The frame maker having a complex decision to make between quality and price.
The Prime Grade Birch has a variety of uses from mouldings to dowels. Some of our birch even ends up keeping whisky in its barrels.
Originating in South America - Marupa is another species we import in dimension stock and as mouldings. A pale creamy colour, straight grained and ideally suited to machining for mouldings.
